Oxford St, Sydney
It must be the guilt of turning the Carlton and United’s Broadway brewery into 20,000 apartments because the good people at Fraser properties, the construction group building Central Park gave us an enormous 4 level warehouse on the fringe of the construction site in 2009 for a year free of charge.
In its past life it stored vehicles the police had impounded & was one day to be the artistic hub of the new suburb being constructed across the road & due to the incredible bullshit skills of my mate we were given the keys & told to be ‘artists’.
Nicknamed the Impound due to its past role we took to being ‘artists’ in our new wonderland. That basically became a non stop party while painting this wall over & over again – never a plan but always tons of paint, longnecks, great people & nose bleeds from being too young & dumb to wear masks. Every night we would paint over last nights work & this is all I got round to documenting, watch the video all the way to the end to understand.
These people painting this wall started something special in Sydney & changed the graffiti/street art landscape here forever & all you know it.
THE MOVEMENT FOR EVER
Thanks to the HOBO boys for this one.
